Growing Up

I'm thrilled to be back again with Chimps for the 48hr film project.  It's become a highlight of my spring.  I'm always impressed by the creativity and professionalism of the team.  This year several friends of mine got the Chimps filming experience for the first time.  I noticed simplicity was a theme this year which kept stress low, and spirits high, the jokes flew as always.  48hr is a reminder of how important it is to make strong choices and be flexible as an actor.  With 30 minutes to learn and rehearse a scene you have to go for it and hope.  It's humbling and nerve racking in the best way.  Good times seem to have been had by all and the film is something we can all be proud of.  Thanks again Chimps!

You never really grow up you just learn how to act in public.

From the Denver Tarmac....

This is one of those moments that planning ahead really didn't pay off :)

I scheduled a trip to the homeland before the decision was made partake in the glorious event know as the 48HFP.  Now I'm totally torn because I'm in Denver International and the rest of the team is prepping for the showing of Group D. :(

That's right! We're talking single digit hours 'til our screening. Time to get out the mousse and blow driers...

Perspective (Not Just from the Balcony)

I just got back from meeting up with AJ and Sarah – we decided to go watch the Group B films since Sarah and AJ will both be out of town our screening on Thursday night.  Seeing the other films helps put our film and the whole weekend into perspective...  It's almost like a support group because until you have done the 48HFP, you don't know what it is like!

We saw some good films tonight in Group B and now I am even more excited to see our film... I think we have a lot to be proud of and have a very good chance at winning some awards.  Overall, the weekend went smoothly and as always our biggest challenge was time – 48 hours is never enough time.  The highlights of this weekend were working with the cast, an amazing and talented group of actors, and the crew that is unbelievably talented.  Unfortunately, we were down a set designer, audio guru, script supervisor, writer, and production assistant because they had Swine Flu (not kidding, I just found out that they really had Swine Flu!).  Seeing the final film gave me chills, the performances were amazing and the story really came together this year.  I think the only hiccup this weekend was Cornelius, the main editor, and myself getting locked on a balcony for an hour without keys or phones, that is 1/48th of the time for those counting ;-)  It turns out that the elements that drew us to the set, the height of the balcony and the fact that it is secluded were what worked against us when we walked out, it was pretty ironic.  I will take an extended stay on a balcony over technical difficulties any day though, so there isn't much to complain about.

I hope to see everyone at the screening and am already looking forward to our next production!  Thanks again to everyone for their hard work, it was a pleasure.
